I've got a Ticket to Riiiiiiide!

This last Christmas Cindy's parents gave each of their kids a copy of the game Ticket to Ride. Its been a Kenney Classic as many of you know for a couple years now. But the Olsen family has just recently been getting into it.
In talking with my Gates cousins (even though all but one of them have now officially changed their names from Gates) I heard that you can play Ticket to Ride online, so last Sunday, after getting thoroughly smashed by my wife, Sister-in-law and Mother-in-law, I tell them about how it can be played online. So Cindy and her sister have been playing it a lot lately. Cindy especially. Infact, to date she has played 74 games in the past 8 days. She is still recovering and needs rest, and so she enjoys having something to do on days she doesn't work.

Updates

I need to update everyone as to our current status' in life, in case there are some of you who aren't aware of our current plans. We are currently living in the home of the Olsen family. We are happy here (even if not warm at certain times). Niether of us are in school at the moment, Cindy has a good reason, she is on semester break. As for me, my excuse is that I'm changing schools, and will hopefully be going to BYU-Idaho starting in April, and I couldn't do that if I was attending the University of Utah this semester.
I've been selected from my group of workers to actually work from home. Its a pilot program, so we'll see how well it works. But if all goes according to plan, I'll be able to continue working from home while living in Idaho. Cindy is just getting over a 3 week bout with a 2 punch combo. Sinus Infection, plus Bronchitis. Today will actually be her first day returning to work. She isn't feeling 100% yet, but she feels like she really needs to get back to working at Alta View Hospital. We're not sure how much longer she'll be there, but she will also be returning to Sandy movies 9 on a casual basis.

New Pictures are up

So with the help of the nice people at picasa.google.com, I've been able to create a slideshow album of our wedding pictures. I was just gonna post each of them individually with a nice little caption. But I'm too busy to do that, so instead I just did it this way, and if any of you have something nice to say about the pictueres, please comment here. If you have something not so nice to say, then you're just a meanie.

So I think its a little sad that I've become accustomed to this whole "writers strike" thing. I watched LOST for the first time in almost a year last night (new episode that is) and in my mind I knew they were only going to do 8 episodes this season. EIGHT! It wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't just recently got my wife and her sister hooked on the series. But now its like we're all gonna be waiting around for the next phase in life to happen.

I'm kidding of course, because actually, a lot has happened in my life since the season 3 finale of LOST. But I've gotten to thinking. I don't really like this whole writers strike thing. For any of you who may not be completely informed about what its about. I'll just sum it up by saying the writers of the shows aren't getting money from the internet episodes, or much more popular DVD season sales.

Now I could stand here and tell you both sides of the story. But I'm not an impartial judge. I'm partial. Very partial. TO WHICHEVER SIDE GETS ME MY SHOWS FASTER. Kidding once again, especially since I'm a big supporter of the DVD sets. I think the writers should get the money and credit that is due to them. So if anyone knows of some online site, or hotline number I can call to pester the jerks prolonging this thing, please let me know.

You can't keep a good dog down!

Here we are again folks! Only this time reporting from our new home/my new office in the basement of the Olsen family. Today is my first day working from home and its really not that bad. I get to do all my fun stuff on my personal laptop, while doing my work on my work laptop.

Getting here wasn't all that easy though. Friday night, Gail (my father-in-law) and I went to work getting my office set up. We ended up running at least 80 ft of Ethernet cable from his office, down to our section of the basement where I have my desk set up. That includes at least 10 ft of that going through heating ducts b/w the floors.

I'm having a good time here. There are positive and negative distractions that come along with it.
GOOD: My commute is much nicer
BAD: It can get pretty cold down here
GOOD: My wife can be with me while I do my busy work stuff at times
BAD: The cats like to jump up on the desk while I'm doing work, and if you know me, I'm no cat person
GOOD: My breaks can now consist of Computer games on my personal laptop, or even Playstation
BAD: No more access to the 2nd floor restroom (You'd have to have been there to understand)

So now I shall contiue my day. I've got a mini- heating fan blowing on my now, so hopefully that will warm me up a little. Feel free to contact me if you're bored.

The plot thickens

Today we shall continue the saga of the courtship between Alex and Cindy. So at the beginning of the new year in 2007, I became the first person at work who found out Cindy's dirty little secret that she was going away to Kentucky for the duration of the spring and summer months. It was at this point that I began to realize how much I enjoyed working with Cindy and just being around her in general.
Determined to not let her leave with me just being another manager she just happened to work with, I told Cindy that before she left she needed to go to dinner with me. She didn't really argue, but then the issue was when and where. We made a plan for a certain night, but then I volunteered to spend a night babysitting some of my adorable nieces and nephews and treating them to a night of pizza and movies with their fun uncle Alex. It wasn't until the day of that I realized I had double booked my evening! I couldn't bail on my nieces and nephews cause I knew it would break their hearts. But at the same time I just couldn't cancel what may be my one and only chance to spend an evening alone with this beautiful woman I had gotten to know.
I believe this was for a Thursday night, and if any of you know anything about working at the movies, there is no such thing as going out on a weekend. Friday and Saturday night one or the other of us worked, so no luck there. Sunday was out, and I left the following Tuesday morning to go to Hawaii with my parents to see my Brother Ben. And then, after I got back from Hawaii, I knew that there was only a day before Cindy left for Kentucky, during which I knew she would be packing and stuff and would be therefore unavailable. So the only shot I knew I had, was Monday night!
So, we made the plans, she worked Monday morning and afternoon, and would meet me at Red Robin after work. So it was set. I had a shot.

LOST & Work sense

Man, I suck, I went all last week without updating our Blog! Well, here is some ketchup.

So Cindy and I started, and finished the first season of Lost last week, she really liked and and we watched the first episode of the second season last night. Now every time something mysterious or suspensful is happening she likes to say, "Its the Numbers!" She is so cute and I love her to death.
In other news, Cindy is working a lot now, and is pretty tired. Luckily she starts her new job at the hospital tomorrow, and we are counting on that having more manageable hours (hopefully), so we'll be able to spend more time together.

Also, my bosses have decided that I smell funny I think, because they want to send me home, PERMANENTLY! But don't worry, I'm not getting fired, they're going to let me work from home. This is very exciting news, because now once we move up to Idaho, I won't have to look for a new crappy job in Rexburg! Hooray! That, actually, is the main reason this is all happening. My boss didn't want to lose me as an AEC (its what I am, if you want to know what the acronym is for just email me) so he is letting me be the first AEC to work from home as a test pilot. We have lots of employees that work at WGU from home in different states, but they are all full time, and I am only part time. But our office is getting crowded as well, so they're thinking they'll just kick me out early so I can get all the kinks worked out well before I move.
